Tick says the clock. Tick! Tick!
What
you have to do, do it quick and don’t be a victim
of procrastination.
This
monster called Procrastination adversely affects all facets of life; it is a time thief.
Reason why we tend to
procrastinate
·
Immediate gratification- Pleasure
Seeking: - to avoid negative emotions you delay stressful tasks.
·
The assumption that there is plenty of
time
·
Laziness
·
Lack of proper prospective and poor time
management
·
Perfectionism and fear of failure
·
Lack of self confidence
·
The main reason why we procrastinate all
comes down to the disease of “Excusitis”
Most
people procrastinate because they say “I can perform better under pressure” but
that’s a LIE, you are under pressure now (this
very moment) and you still don’t work at all. But you continue to shift (postpone)
your tasks, and when its time to perform better under your so called pressure
you begin to complain that the time is not enough…..Excuses
Research
A
recent study revealed that university students who procrastinate had
significantly higher levels of smoking, drinking, insomnia, stomach cramps,
cold, flu and lower grades.
Many
times we delay a task because we feel we need to relax instead but the end
(ultimate) result is quite a greater level of stress.
Remedy
Don’t
postpone what you can do now for later
Examine
why you are tempted to delay your task and deal with the cause immediately
As
a student design a reading time table and follow it properly, manage your time well.
We
all know what is important, we all know what we must do, it takes considerable
will power to always ‘do the right thing” in every situation.
It takes both self discipline and will power
to resist the temptation to cut corners/take the easy way/act for short term
advantage.
Do
not allow the attitude “I will do it later be your life style” because
later may become late for you to regain what you have lost. Be
wise!
No
more excuses! Do it or don’t do it, but don’t make excuses.
Stop
using your incredible brain to think up elaborate rationalizations and
justifications for not taking action. Do
something. Do anything. Get
on with it.
Repeat
to yourself if it’s to be, it’s up to
me!
Losers
Make Excuses; Winners Make Progress.
Do
what is right and necessary before what is fun and easy
